SoCal Vintage BMW Drive - April 11, 2015
After all the 2002s, e9s, and e30s arrived in a parking lot in Mission Viejo on Saturday morning we cruised through Live Oak Canyon, eventually arriving at Jeff Tighe's TP Motorsports in Costa Mesa. Although I didn't end up taking any photos at TP Motorsports, I managed to snap a few on the drive and at a little rest stop along the way.
An original 2002 race car with an M30 and triple carbs.
This Neue Klasse BMW 2000 had an S14 engine from an E30 M3.
1 of 1,510 produced worldwide, with 380hp from the factory.
Most of the cars lined up during a little break about half way through the drive.
This clean roundie was painted in what appeared to be estoril blue and really popped in the sunlight.
A very nice M535i showed up too.
It was quite the picturesque event. With the temperature hovering around 80 degrees and a refreshing breeze coming in the windows, this drive was just perfect. Nothing compares to the sound of a bunch of classic carbureted cars ripping around the California twisties.
