Parking Lot Gems: 1966 Porsche 911

Writing and Photography by Riley Koidahl.

One of the best-kept secrets of car events is the regular parking lot. While concours always have "so clean you could eat off the underside" cars, enthusiastic attendees often bring something special as well, only to get relinquished to the back lot.

Hiding in the basement beneath the Los Angeles Literature, Toy, and Memorabilia show was this pretty little early Porsche 911 SWB (short wheel base). The sweet, pale yellow color suited the car's soft, sensual lines well; don't get me wrong, though, this car would look good in just about any color!

Next time you're at a car show, try perusing the neighboring streets or parking lots, you never know what you'll see.
